My Belated Mother's Day Post

Yeah, I had planned on doing this on Sunday, but things got a bit hectic. And of course, who was there for me? My mom. Oh yes she was. She even listened to me bawl my eyes out on Mother's Day when she should have been eating her dinner. Can I give you the top 5 (although there are many more) reasons why I love my mom? Good. Listen closely.

1. She raised me in the gospel. Many people may not look at us and think "Oh, Holy Mormon family." Sure, my dad isn't mormon. My stepdad isn't mormon. And yes, there is divorce in my family. Holy cow right? We must all be going to hell! I think not. My mom has had the strength that I have had to remember she had when I have rough things go on in my life. There has been times where she has wanted to give it all up but instead, she turned to the Lord. She rested her life upon the gospel. Even now, as I get older, she still centers our household around Christ. What more can I ask for? I look at my friends who don't have the gospel in their lives and they are in a scary place. They make choices they don't think will effect them.. and then they regret them. They have no morals. No light in their eyes. I don't have to worry about that. I have an amazing mom who laid the foundation for the most important thing in my life. The church. The gospel.

2. She is always there for me. No matter what I've done wrong, she's been there to comfort me and stand by my side. She always seems to say the right thing, even if it seems like it the wrong thing at the time. Many girls don't talk to their mom like I talk to mine. I literally can tell her anything. We talk about anything I need to talk about. There really is no limits. If she can help me, she does.

3. She has been my teacher. Everything I've learned in life, has been influenced by my mom. She's taught me to cook, clean, budget, and live with those that I need to put in effort with to be able to live with. She has taught me more patience then people would ever believe. (Crazy, I know.) She has taught me to love everyone and that everyone in this world is a child of God and should be treated as such. She has taught me to open my heart to those in need and find joy in serving others. She has taught me to be who I am today. Determined, Strong-willed, opinionated, smart, and wanting to better my life.

4. She and I can talk forever. We seriously could carry on a conversation for days if we had the opportunity to. We (or maybe I) always find something to talk about. She always listens to me cry on the phone when I'm homesick and want to come home. She listens to me vent when I wanna freak out on someone. She listens to me get all giddy when something good happens. She listens.

5. The most important thing? She is my best friend. Literally. I can say that my mom knows more about me than any of my friends do. She knows who I really am and who I can truly become. There has never been a day where I don't thank my Heavenly Father for her and the strong person that she is. She never puts herself first and always wants to help others. She finds joy in comforting people that are worse off than she is. She has always put family first. Always. She thinks about us before even allowing herself to cross her mind. This is probably the most amazing woman ever, and if you know her, you know that I am not lying. She has the best sense of humor and my friends all adore her. I have yet to have one best friend that doesn't call her "mom."

Mom, I freaking love everything about you. You may drive me nuts sometimes, but that doesn't change how amazingly perfect you are. I seriously would never trade you for the world. People say I look like you, I act like you, I sound like you... I wouldn't ask for more. How could I not want to look, act and sound like the one person who has influenced my life the most? The one person who has been my rock in my lowest points? The one who has been super happy for me when I am super happy? The one who has pushed me to be the best I can be and strive to continue making and reaching high goals. All of this, I owe to you. I love you, mom. Don't you EVER forget that.

P.S. To all those who knew about Shania's surgery... She's doing very well and is still a freaking firecracker.. even with a huge nasty bruise on her neck. She's quite the trooper and from what I'm understanding, she rarely even takes the pain meds. I love you, Nia. Miss you! See you in 4 days :)
